DESCRIPTION: Working in two teams students select and study a work of art and then define their selection for the other team by focusing on the description.

OBJECTIVES: Students explore the nature of modern art while learning about the process needed to make an informed judgment.

PROCEDURE: Let's divide into two teams. Each team will work in a separate gallery to select and study a work of art. Make very careful observations because when team B joins team A, in team A's gallery, team A will be responsible for giving five clues that will reveal its selection. Each clue will describe what the work of art is not (i.e. it is not a sculpture, it is not as wide as a refrigerator, it is not composed of bright colors, etc.) After team A gives its five clues I would like team B to find the work as quickly as possible. You may have one guess only. If team B cannot locate the correct work of art, team A must provide five more clues. The object is to locate the work after the first round of clues or after as few rounds as possible. Now that team B identified team A's selection, let's go to team B's gallery and guess its selection.
