DC "The first thing I knew was that I wanted to work with the wool, and I went down to a farm in southern Minnesota and asked them if I could photograph their sheep being sheared. And the reason I was doing that was I was just following a notion that I had about the position of the sheep in the story of Isaac and Abraham: the relation between father and son, or parent and child, and the lamb as surrogate for sacrifice, or killing. I was following this notion of wanting to get deeper into what is that relationship, and what is that animal."
