Hachivi Edgar Heap of Birds

That brings us to Building Minnesota, in the sense of hoping that we can bring it back out into the public view and make another arc. And be able to have people come and make their offerings and contemplate those 40 warriors that were executed by Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. And it was a great piece. And the Walker, which is so supportive and stuck with me in the hard times making this piece--which wasn't easy, as you can imagine in Minnesota, to put up a 400-foot installation--trying to deal with the history in a correct manner. And I had, also, help from Native young people--descendants of the warriors--who came to the Walker. And we had art projects together and did art workshops. And then, some of them even came out in the snow and helped me put the signs up in the ground. So, it was a great experience that the Walker facilitated and I hope that continues. It was really great."
