SAY WOW
WALKER ON WHEELS VISITS LOCAL NEIGHBORHOODS

THROUGH JUNE 2, 2000,

SHERIDAN GLOBAL ARTS AND COMMUNICATIONS SCHOOL,
1201 UNIVERSITY AVENUE N.E., MINNEAPOLIS

"People either like the work or hate it. There's no middle ground. It's good, bad, and ugly all at the same time. But whatever you think of it, the work awakens your curiosity; it stimulates the imagination."--Joep van Lieshout

Walker on Wheels (WoW)--the mobile art lab designed for the museum by Atelier van Lieshout for the two-part sculpture The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly--continues its residency in Northeast Minneapolis this month. May's events extend the unique collaboration between Sheridan Global Arts and Communications School, the Walker, Minnesota Arts & Education Partnership, the Science Museum of Minnesota, Sheridan Neighborhood Organization, and Art-A-Whirl. A great way to meet your neighbors and build community pride, this program includes discussions, artist-led activities for students, computer-based design classes, student exhibitions, outdoor movies, and neighborhood celebrations. All events are free and take place at the Sheridan School playground. For more information, call 612.375.5812 or visit the Web site.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY REOPENS

The fixed unit of the sculpture The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly reopens to the public on Friday, May 19, in its new location just west of the Cowles Conservatory in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Stop by the wooden house--modeled after traditional pioneer shelters of this area--on your way into the Walker to learn more about community and Walker events, view slides of the work being built, or get closer to the art by touching models of the Garden sculptures. Information Guides will be on hand to answer questions and engage families in drop-in art activities. Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 11 am-5 pm.
