Iconoclastic composer-accordionist Guy Klucevsek joins forces with six artists to explore the intersections of contemporary music and puppetry, among other disciplines, in this diverse, charming performance. The second half of the evening is called "The Heart of the Andes"--a collaboration with miniaturist-puppeteer Dan Hurlin that follows a blind man's imaginary journey through American landscape paintings (from Winslow Homer to Mark Rothko), set to an emotional accordion score by Klucevsek. (The Village Voice calls the piece "brilliant.") Collaborators on Squeezeplay pieces include choreographer-video artist Victoria Marks and Twin Cities-based composer Mary Ellen Childs, and performing live with Klucevsek are Hurlin, choreographers Claire Porter and David Dorfman, and performance artist Dan Froot. Co-commissioned by the Walker and The Kitchen. For more information on Guy Klucevsek, go to his Web site.
