A hallmark of jazz is its constant evolution, which both complements and expands its roots. Saxophonist-flutist Sam Rivers is a major figure in contemporary music and an authentic jazz original, while Jason Moran has been termed a "young lion" for his astonishing improvisational abilities and fluency in the cut/paste/splice devices of hip-hop production, though he's equally at home with composers from Bartók to Björk. For this exclusive Walker collaboration, Rivers takes the stage with the Jason Moran Trio (pianist Moran, bassist Tarus Mateen, and drummer Nasheet Waits) in what promises to be an evening of spectacular jazz.
