Annie is a young girl who works as an assistant to a hairdresser. Her friend
Danilo is a traveling scissors sharpener who bicycles the streets looking
for customers. Their days are punctuated by regular meetings; their conversations
drift from joyful to bitter reflections on politics, work, and their everyday
lives. Director Ana Poliak is a rarity in the Argentine film world: a female
director who has been able to circumvent its macho ethos in order to produce
independent work that captures a less familiar but more compelling look
at life. 2001, Argentina, in Spanish with English subtitles, color, 35mm,
90 minutes.
