Filmed during three tumultuous years in India, Pakistan, Japan, and the United States, War and Peace is an epic journey of peace activism in the face of global militarism and war. This timely documentary about the continuing confrontation between India and Pakistan was triggered by macabre scenes of jubilation that greeted the announcement of nuclear testing on the Indian subcontinent. "The film itself is a tour de force, beautifully shot and often darkly funny and much more riveting than the dry subject matter might suggest" (The Guardian, U.K.). War and Peace was the recipient of the International Film Critics' Award (FIPRESCI) at the 2002 Sydney International Film Festival and winner of Best Film at the 2002 Mumbai International Film Festival in India. 2002, India, color, Beta, in English, Hindi, and Japanese with English subtitles, 148 minutes.
