For this final conversation of the Getting Gober series, curator-writer-graphic designer Ellen Lupton discusses reinterpretations of everyday utilitarian objects in the work of Robert Gober. In 1993, I.D. magazine named Lupton one of America's 40 design innovators. While she was the curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution, New York, where she now serves as Adjunct Curator, Lupton organized a series of major books and exhibitions, including Mechanical Brides: Women and Machines from Home to Office in 1993. She is co-chair of the Graphic Design Department at the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore.
