Investing in the Arts

Special thanks to Dain Rauscher Corporation
The Walker Art Center is pleased to acknowledge the generosity of Dain Rauscher Corporation, one of the largest securities firms in the nation. A long-time supporter of the Walker, Dain Rauscher has contributed generously to the Annual Fund and Capital Campaign, and provided substantial support to the 1997 exhibition Robert Colescott: Recent Paintings. Currently, the firm is helping to make possible the next reinstallation of the Walker's permanent collection.

Founded in Saint Paul by Oscar Kalman in 1909, Dain Rauscher is the result of a series of mergers with and acquisitions of companies that shared the organization's core values, such as a commitment to serving clients' financial interests with exceptional service, innovation, and professionalism. In 2000, Dain Rauscher was acquired by Royal Bank of Canada, an alliance that positions the company to continue its long, exceptional history of growth and client service.

Walker director Kathy Halbreich notes, "Dain Rauscher's ongoing support of the Walker has made it possible for us to maintain a strong local, national, and international focus through our artistic and educational programs. The value they place on innovation mirrors our own engagement with artists such as Robert Colescott, an influential practitioner who dared to redefine his discipline. We have enjoyed a close partnership, and I am grateful for both the intellectual and financial support this relationships entails." Irving Weiser, Dain Rauscher chairman and CEO, says, "Supporting the Walker Art Center is good for Dain Rauscher on many levels. It gives us a chance to make a strong contribution to the Twin Cities community, it associates the Dain Rauscher name with a world-class organization, and it creates a sense of excitement and pride with our employees."
