Wolfgang Weingart's influence on the development of typography since the 1970s is unparalleled. At the renowned School of Design in Basel, Switzerland, he greatly expanded the vocabulary of modern Swiss typography with innovative experiments that have influenced countless graphic designers around the world. Weingart's work has been featured in myriad international design journals and exhibitions and has been included in numerous surveys of contemporary typography. His unique educational and design philosophy was the subject of issue 130 of Design Quarterly. He has received many honors and awards, and is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). The book Wolfgang Weingart: Typography (Lars Muller Publishers), a long overdue and much-anticipated 500-page survey of his life's work to date, was recently released.
