This popular four-month series explores modern art from the late 19th century to the contemporary art of today. Each lecture investigates a different theme, movement, or idea central to the understanding of 20th-century art, with an emphasis on works created after 1945. This program is offered during the day or in the evening, and tickets may be purchased individually or as a series. Limited to 70 participants per session, this series filled up fast last year. For additional information and a detailed class description, call 612.375.7610 or check out the Investigating Modern Art press release (13 August 1999).

BECOME A TOUR GUIDE
Join the ranks of a dynamic group of volunteers committed to helping visitors explore and experience the Walker's collections and special exhibitions. Two separate classes will be offered through the Investigating Modern Art lecture series (see above). Guides who are available during weekdays will receive training specifically for working with student groups, while evening and weekend guides focus on touring with adults. A background in art history or studio art is helpful but not required. Enthusiasm for contemporary art, however, is essential. For more information, call 612.375.7574 or check out the Tour Guide Training press release (7 July 1999).
