This September, the Walker Art Center invites you to take part in the artistic process through film screenings, art-making, a family tour in the galleries, and dancing. Explore works of art by contemporary artists and help create an art installation. All activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.


11 AM
PERFORMANCE: CHANCE TO DANCE
Watch a colorful, mystical performance by CAAM Chinese Dance Theater. This interactive presentation of folk, classical, and ethnic dances includes beautiful costumes from different regions and historical periods of China. Families will then be invited onstage for a chance to dance. Auditorium.

12 NOON-4 PM
ART-MAKING FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY: GET INTO THE ACTION
Join local artist Ta-Coumba Aiken to help put the finishing touches on his Art Lab installation, Open Face. Make rhythm patterns, faces, mosaics, and more. Get ready to get into the action! Art Lab.

12 NOON AND 2 PM
FILMS: IMAGINE THAT!
Join in the fun and discover the fascinating hobbies of three very imaginative people in the films The Sound Collector, The Violin Maker, and Sea Dream. 30 minutes. Lecture Room.

FAMILY GALLERY TOUR: HEAR ALL ABOUT IT
Find out more about works of art in the Walker's collection during this family tour of galleries 4, 5, and 6. Meet in the lobby.
