"The Shock of the View" online exhibitions pair works of art or events from the participating museums with digital works of art or events. Every three weeks a new exhibtion will be added. The exhibitions are grouped into four of the categories around which institutions have commonly organized their activities:

  Object, Space, Performance, and Hybrid.

Commentaries by invited curators, artists, educators, and critics explore the ways digital media impacts artists, audiences and museums and provide starting points for the general discussion.

In addition to the specific exhibitions and responses generated here, "Shock of the View" is taking place within the context of discussions in many quarters, whether the net art, museum, library, archives, government and other communities.
