Janis Figure, acclaimed as one of the most
exciting live bands around, stirs up a potent cocktail of '60s surf,
'70s rock, and '80s punk. Combine equal parts kitsch and charisma
with two parts sweat and swagger. Add one jigger of guitar-fueled
adrenaline. Shake (hard), pour over ice, enjoy. Bill Bisson (vocals),

THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE
DIRECTED
BY TAY GARNETT
In this film noir classic, Lana Turner stars as Cora Smith, the frustrated
wife of a small-town gas-station owner. The screen ignites when Cora
meets drifter Frank Chambers (John Garfield) and feels that he's her
ticket out. The seduction includes plans to murder her boring husband,
which sets their affair on a downward spiral toward doom. Due to censorship
guidelines, the James M. Cain novel upon which the film is based had
been considered unfilmable, but the script was tailored to retain
a sordid edge without all the lurid incidents. 1946, U.S., BW, 113
minutes. |
