The Walker and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden are the focus of artist-led
summer classes for kids ages 3-14. Create paintings, prints, performance,
and photographs. Explore architecture and design. Culture Camp offers
young people an action-packed introduction to five arts organizations
in Minneapolis.

Let your imagination run wild as you take a look at architectural elements
and learn about two- and three-dimensional form. Draw most unusual buildings,
fold paper to create a city scene, and use wood to construct a miniature
main street. Find out about artworks in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
and in the exhibition The Home Show. Led by Jane Meyer.

Garden sculptures and the artwork in The Home Show exhibition are
the inspiration for a variety of creative sculptures and drawing projects.
Make imaginary floor plans, magic windows, hidden staircases, swimming
pools, and gardens with simple building materials. Led by Ilene Krug Mojsilov.

CULTURE CAMP
MONDAY-FRIDAY,

$240 ($180 FOR MEMBERS OF ANY OF THE FIVE PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS)
Spend a day at each of five arts organizations: the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Zenon Dance Company, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune. Create performances, masks, magical boxes, videos, books, and dances. Bring a bag lunch each day. Participants need to provide their own transportation to each institution each day. Registration begins May 16. Three sections are offered. Registration through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts only. To register, call 612.870.3131.

PICTURE
PERFECT
TUESDAY-FRIDAY,

$80 ($40 WALKER MEMBERS)
Take a photograph on fabric, use sun-sensitive paper, and make a photo
collage. Explore non-darkroom and darkroom photography in this hands-on
class for new photographers. Make your own pinhole camera, then take a
photo in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and learn how to develop your
film in the Art Lab. Bring a snack or bag lunch. Led by Del Bey.

ARCHITECTURE
WORKSHOP
MONDAY-FRIDAY,
JULY 10-14, 2000, 10 AM-3 PM
$160 ($80 WALKER MEMBERS)
Devise, plan, and construct an ideal (model) house during individual and
group projects. Work in The Home Show exhibition, sketch in the
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, produce pastel and ink architectural drawings
in the Art Lab, and learn about the field of architecture. Techniques
of design, drawing, and model-building are emphasized. This class includes
individual and group projects and will end with time for students to share
their work with parents. Bring a snack or bag lunch. Led by architect
Adam Wilbrecht and University of Minnesota architecture grad student Aimee
LaLone.

PRINTMAKER'S
WORKSHOP
TUESDAY-FRIDAY,
AUGUST 8-11, 2000, 10 AM-3 PM
$160 ($80 WALKER MEMBERS)
Screen printing is the focus of this class. Students will explore the
process of monoprinting, layout design, and photo-emulsion printing basics.
Create a simple drawing or painting and reproduce it as many times as
possible using different methods. This class includes group and individual
projects and will end with a group extravaganza for parents and students.
Bring a snack or bag lunch. Led by Peyton.
