SHIFT
DIRECTED BY
HYEONJIN KIM
With symbolic imagery, Shift
expresses a circle in which the metaphoric identities of death and life
become interchangeable. 2001, U.S., color, video, 16 minutes..
SUCH LOVE
EXISTS
DIRECTED BY
SHANA KAPLOW
A mysterious, fluid image of
hands manipulating black wire suggests veins, conduits, potential blood
clots, or bloodlines that link us. Or perhaps a knot is a banal task,
a puzzle, or a creative problem. 2000, U.S., color, video, 5 minutes.
SPACE TWENTY-FIVE
BERLIN (SPAZIO VENTICINQUE BERLINO)
DIRECTED BY
LORENZA LUCCHI BASILI
Using images of a construction
site in Berlin, this work provides a poetic look at weight-bearing structures
set to the music of the ancient Byzantine liturgy. 2001, Italy, color,
video, 3 minutes.
GETTING
STRONGER EVERY DAY
DIRECTED BY
MIRANDA JULY
Comedy/tragedy and reality/fiction
are presented in the tales of two boys who were taken from their homes
and cannot integrate back into their families when they return. Influenced
by two movies director- performance artist Miranda July saw as a child,
the film explores how myths are created. 2001, U.S., color, video, 7 minutes. For more information on Miranda July, please see the following URL: http://www.mirandajuly.com/
WORLD
PREMIERE
BRIEF INCOMPLETE VIEW
DIRECTED BY
COLLEEN LUDWIG
Within the framework of a dream,
this animation shows objects from a junk drawer portraying ideas and emotions
that stand in for the absent person. A doll's head functions as a character
that sifts through the subconscious, teasing bits of information to the
surface and suggesting the cyclical nature of a never-ending search. 2001,
U.S., color, video, 10 minutes.

to impoverished women who wish to start their own businesses. Director
Gayle Ferraro objectively portrays the daily subsistence strategies of
Bangladeshi women and Selina's success in the rickshaw business. 2000,
