BEFORE AND AFTER THE REVOLUTION: ITALIA ANNI 1962-1972
NOVEMBER 7-24, 2001
AUDITORIUM
|
Between 1960 and 1972, a group of idealistic filmmakers with radical values
set out to alter the image and content of Italian cinema. These contemporaries
of the Arte Povera artists focused unflinchingly on Italy's brutal sociopolitical passage from an agricultural to an industrialized society and the changes
wrought on economic, sexual, and familial values. An intellectual survey
of visionary work before and after the cultural revolution, this series
features rarely screened films that revisit this vital period of Italian
history. Co-curated by Silvia Lucchesi, Florence, and Walker Film/Video
curator Cis Bierinckx.
