Bitter Tongue was created at the Yard, a colony for performing artists in Chilmark, MA. The movement material was then incorporated into Song of Lawino, a collaboration among Valeria Vasilevski, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Edwina Lee Tyler, and Tiye Giraud that premiered at Dance Theater Workshop in New York in January 1988. Bitter Tongue is performed as part of the Urban Bush Women repertory.
