The Walker announces the launch of a new Web site featuring its digital resources in visual and performing arts, film/video, and new media. Images, artist interviews, essays, net-art projects, and other elements of the Walker's collections become the starting point for online investigations in multidisciplinary contemporary art. Presented alongside these resources are related words and concepts--such as identity, power, ambiguity, and activism--offering innovative ways for participants to discover relevant and compelling information. Registered visitors can submit opinions and rate other visitor comments, making interaction possible not only with the museum, but also with a community of people who share similar interests. As ArtsConnectEd is to K-12 education and Gallery 9 is to net art, Collections + Resources is to museums that want to encourage Web visitors' contributions to the interpretation of their collections.
COLLECTIONS + RESOURCES IS MADE POSSIBLE BY GENEROUS SUPPORT FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES & LEARNING THROUGH AN APPROPRIATION BY THE MINNESOTA STATE LEGISLATURE.
