Art historian Whitney Chadwick explores the complex relationship between
Man
Ray and American photographer Lee Miller, who lived and worked together
in Paris between 1929 and 1932. As Man Ray's favored model, Miller was transformed
into both fashion icon and Surrealist fetish. Chadwick also reads from Exquisite
Corpse, her fictional work-in-progress inspired by a Man Ray photograph.
Known for her pioneering research and writing on women and Surrealism, her
books include Women Artists and the Surrealist Movement; Women,
Art, and Society; Significant Others: Creativity and Intimate Partnership;
and Framed, an art-historical crime novel. |
