Education NEW IN THE ART LAB: OPEN FACE BY TA-COUMBA AIKEN OPENS SEPTEMBER 2, 2000

With Open Face, Ta-Coumba Aiken explores themes of identity and self-discovery/rediscovery through rhythm patterns and spirit writing. He incorporates colorful repetitive imagery and interactive puzzles with characters drawn from Chinese calligraphy, Ghanian adrinka, and Minnesota petroglyphs to take visitors on a personal journey and draw them into a comfortable environment. Open Face will be on view in the Walker's Art Lab through March 3, 2001.
