It has been more than six years since American choreographer Mark Morris brought his company to the Twin Cities to perform the breathtaking L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato. He returns with an evening of new works set to live music as the 18-member Mark Morris Dance Group unveils the joyous romp Dancing Honeymoon (1999), the full-company Sang-Froid (2000), and the whimsical Silhouettes (1999). The evening concludes with a reprise of the ritualistic masterpiece Grand Duo (1993), set to music by Lou Harrison. Morris' innate sense of rhythm and scintillating wit enable him to unearth fresh currents of movement with a unique theatrical verve. In his hands, contemporary dance is both an unparalleled artistic expression and the grandest of entertainment. For more information on the Mark Morris Dance Group, try their Web site.
