David Murray, an award-winning composer-musician (tenor saxophone and bass clarinet), blends the legacies of the 1970s free jazz movement, gospel, and the New Orleans sound with African roots. This extraordinary Octet includes Craig Harris on trombone, Wilber Morris on bass, Hugh Ragin on trumpet, and James Spaulding on alto sax. Murray is also a cofounder of the World Saxophone Quartet. Murray and his all-star Octet perform a special evening-length concert as part of the weeklong residency with Urban Bush Women.
