BETTER LOOKING: CONCEPT/CONSTRUCT: IDEA AS ART , 1 AND 6 PM , GALLERY 8 TERRACE
What do wall drawings by Sol LeWitt, video installations by Bruce Nauman, and a bronze urinal by Sherri Levine have in common? Inherent to understanding these and other contemporary artworks is discovering the concept or idea behind it. From conceptualism to Minimalism to postmodernism, art that is more about an idea than its visual manifestation is often challenging, always interesting. This tour dives into the world of idea-based art with a no-holds-barred look at what makes it successful, and what makes it difficult.
