Since 1997, Walker curators and programmers have been working with neighborhood organizations to develop artistic and educational activities that would engage audiences living and working in the museum's surrounding neighborhood. This Community Neighborhood Advisory Committee (CNAC) now includes sixteen members, such as the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Native Arts Circle, and the YWCA.
