Deceptively wholesome, Serial Mom has a slick surface but some classic Waters moments. Kathleen Turner plays the perfect mother who has gone more than a little psycho in her attempt to protect her children and the environment. Brilliant touches include Turner bludgeoning a woman with a leg of lamb while singing "Tomorrow" from Annie, a painted tribute to Don Knotts, and an appearance by L7 as the band Camel Lips. Sam Waterston, Ricki Lake, and Matthew Lillard costar as concerned family members. With cameos by Suzanne Somers, Joan Rivers, and Patty Hearst as a juror who wears white shoes after Labor Day. The horror! 1994, U.S., 93 minutes.
