Join in this memorable celebration as Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and friends create an afternoon of dance, theater, music, and storytelling in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Inspired by their chosen theme of "Beauty and Disorder," participants in the company's artist residency during this past year explored common threads that bind us all. The resulting works--conceived and performed by more than 100 local artists, residents, and company members--reflect and honor our diverse Twin Cities communities. Hallelujah/Minneapolis: In Praise of Beauty and Disorder begins with an opening ceremony by the company. As visitors walk through the Garden, they will be invited to watch performances, learn dance movements, hear stories, and listen to live music composed by Robert Een and played by local musicians. A grand finale will be performed by the assembled dancers.

Since 1976, Washington, D.C.-based choreographer-cultural activist Liz Lerman has been a national pioneer in defining ways that innovative art-making can be linked intrinsically to community-building. Hallelujah/Minneapolis: In Praise of Beauty and Disorder is one of 15 Hallelujah projects to be conducted in cities across the country that address topics vital to host communities. Local participants in this collaborative residency include members from Art and Religion in the Twin Cities; Association for the Advancement of Hmong Women in Minnesota; the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mary; Jeremiah Program; Sheridan Global Arts and Communications School; Southwest Senior Center; North High School; St. Paul Jewish Community Center; Rimon: the Jewish Metropolitan Council on Arts and Culture; United Theological Seminary; Young Dance; and individual artists and community members.

*In case of heavy rain, the performance will be held at the Basilica of Saint Mary, Hennepin Avenue at 16th Street, Minneapolis.
