Experience intrepid new musical collaborations, found sounds, and rarely voiced inclinations--all in an intimate cabaret setting. This wild evening of newly invented musical instruments gone feral is curated by Harry Partch authority and composer Philip Blackburn. In addition to an instrument petting zoo and a jam session of mutant acoustical devices, the evening includes local sound-sculptor Norman Anderson playing his newest creation, Ron George of Los Angeles leading local players on his homemade American gamelan (a menagerie of sweetly tuned aluminum), Brent Michael Davids on crystal flutes and tape, and Mark Bruckner's junkyard percussion. Copresented by the American Composers Forum.
THE WALKER ART CENTER'S PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM IS GENEROUSLY SUPPORTED BY FUNDS FROM THE DORIS DUKE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION THROUGH THE DORIS DUKE FUND FOR JAZZ AND DANCE AND THE DORIS DUKE PERFORMING ARTS ENDOWMENT FUND, AND THE MCKNIGHT FOUNDATION.
