With an old postcard as his
only clue, a man from Hong Kong travels to a remote province in western
China in search of his older brother. In this study of cultural interaction,
the urbanite adapts to regional customs and forms relationships with the
locals. To make her debut feature, Yan Yan Mak took a similar journey
with minimal crew and little money, learning to adapt to rural circumstances
in order to make her guerrilla-style film. 2001, Hong Kong, color, video,
in Mandarin with English subtitles, 90 minutes. For more information on Yan Yan Mak, please see the following URL: http://www.labiennaledivenezia.net/it/cinema/58mostra/FilmBiennale2001/skd_rgs.cfm?LanguageID=IT&ID=371
