Education LECTURE-SCREENING WITH PHIL HARDER THE PROTO-MTV OF BRUCE CONNER THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1999, 7 PM FREE LECTURE ROOM

Phil Harder has been a cinematographer and director of music videos for the past 15 years. During this lecture-screening, he examines ways that Bruce Conner's experimental film work of the 1960s (such as COSMIC RAY and BREAKAWAY) laid the groundwork for the omnipresent commercial music-video form of today. Harder was the director of cinematography on Eric Tretbar's Snow, which was screened at the 1998 Berlin and Toronto film festivals.
