and tropical beats, Moroccan-French group Sawt el Atlas (Voices of
the Atlas) creates original music made of rai, funk, R&B, reggae,
and Latino sounds. Don't miss the only Midwest appearance by this

MADAME X
DIRECTED
BY DAVID LOWELL RICH
In the seventh cinematic go-round for this 1909 drama, Lana Turner
plays the mysterious title role. Destitute after a series of tragedies
that have left her a drug-addicted prostitute living in a cheap Mexican
hotel, Holly Parker is forced to kill criminal Dan Sullivan (Burgess
Meredith). She discovers that his blackmail scheme involves the murder
of her husband, whom she was wrongly forced to leave many years before.
In a perfect twist, her assigned public defender is none other than
her son, forcing her to become "Madame X" to hide her true identity.
1966, U.S., color, 16mm, 100 minutes. |
