I am proud to present the first Film/Video program of 1997. WIDC/Minnesota, now in its fourth year, is a monthlong film and video series that offers a variety of short and feature-length works, a computer-generated wall projection, and a Web site by both established and emerging women media artists from around the world. The series also features local video and filmmakers in its Home Girls and Junior Home Girls programs. Works are selected by a jury consisting of artists, art administrators, and educators who specialize in media arts.

This year, film audiences will have a unique context in which to view the works, as the Walker galleries are currently featuring works by and about women. So join us once again in celebrating the creative talents of women moving-image makers. And thank you for your support of women's work.

Marlina Gonzalez-Tamrong, Curator, Women in the Director's Chair/Minnesota

The Walker Art Center's Web site for Women in the Director's Chair is made possible through the generous support of Vivo Corporation, which digitized the flim clips available from this site.
