Oil on paper, beats on a guitar, negatives in a dark room, rhythm in the joints, ink on paper -- all mediums are represented. From the minds of metro area youth comes the work that comprises this show. The artists have poured their souls out, or just given us a glimpse inside. This work reflects our society -- lives that cherish ancient human instinct, but thrive on technological advances. The Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council has created a show that displays the best that teens in the area have to offer . . .
--Eve Lotter and Josh Sovell, Teen Arts Council Members

This multimedia teen-curated exhibition includes visual, performance, and film/video works created by metro area teens. Hot Art Injection (may cause side effects) was conceived, curated, organized, and publicized by the Walker Art Center's Teen Arts Council (WACTAC), a diverse group of teenagers from the Twin Cities who meet regularly at the Walker to promote teen access to contemporary art and artists. For the past year, members have been involved with organizing and hosting events in collaboration with Walker staff and have produced two issues of the zine Fig. 12, a publication of original teen artwork and creative writing combined with Walker program highlights for teen audiences.
