Nakasako's teaching style and enthusiasm for storytelling have made him a legendary figure with teen videomakers in San Francisco's Tenderloin district. For many American 18-year-olds, senior year in high school is a filled with hope and expectations for the future. But for Sokly "Don Bonus" Ny, it is a challenge to simply graduate while dealing with a life complicated by housing projects and the many problems faced by his immigrant family. Using a Hi-8 camcorder, Ny shot more than 60 hours of video documenting his last year at Galileo High School in San Francisco. a.k.a Don Bonus is a powerful self-portrait of a Cambodian youth growing up in America. 1995, U.S., video, color, 55 minutes.
