Always on the prowl, Alex (Denis Lavant) joins a gang of thugs to steal
the serum for a virus that kills people who "make love without love." In
the process, Alex falls for his mate Marc's girl (Juliette Binoche), who
rejects his advances despite intense conversations with him. This romantic
thriller, a melancholy vision of love in the age of AIDS, further attests
to the young filmmaker's virtuoso talent and his assured use of color as
glimmers of hope in a harsh world. Featuring Michel Piccoli and Julie Delpy.
1986, France, in French with English subtitles, 119 minutes.
