Gerry, shot in long takes in the desert by cinematographer Harris Savides, was improvised by its stars (Matt Damon and Casey Affleck). The result is compellingly complex yet mesmerizingly simple. Including a minimalist piano score by Arvo Pärt, the film follows two men named Gerry who are lost in the desert and moving, breathing, even walking in unison through a physical and mental labyrinth on their desperate search for a way out.
