TALK: ARTIST TALK: EDGAR ARCENEAUX, 6:30 PM
Just as a DJ samples beats and grooves from old songs to create new music,
artist Edgar Arceneaux juxtaposes words and images from popular culture
to create new meanings. His drawings invent ironic histories for today's
pop icons. On this walking tour of One
Planet under a Groove, Arceneaux explores the relationship between
hip-hop and the art of wordplay. Meet in the lobby.

TALK: ARTIST TALK: HOUSE[RAW], 7:30 PM, RESERVATIONS REQUIRED, AUDITORIUM
House[raw], a multimedia database/Web artwork designed by new-media
developer-curator Wayne Ashley and Ralph Lemon, showcases the choreographer's
research and creative process months before the performance opens. For
this presentation, Ashley and Lemon guide the audience through the site's
growing repository of documentation and sound from Lemon's travels to
historically volatile places in the South. They will also show sections
from Before and After Geography, a Web documentary Ashley directed
at BAM in 2000, based on Lemon's Tree (Part 2 of the Geography
trilogy).
