Women With Vision 2004

Home/Away From Home

In Women with Vision’s 11th season, Iranian director Samira Makhmalbaf’s newest feature takes us to a post-Taliban Afghanistan flooded with returning refugees seeking a home; Solveig Anspach’s story of a runaway who comes back is set on the island off Iceland where she grew up; and Minnesota filmmaker Sayer Frey shows us a career woman who learns about life from a cleaning woman newly arrived from Somalia. Twenty-five features, documentaries, and shorts showcase the range of talent from around the world with seven international, thirteen American independent, and five films from Minnesota. The festival also includes Girls in the Director’s Chair, a program featuring the next generation of filmmakers.
