Families are invited to stop by the FlatPak House to nurture the artist within by making a cool, personally designed sketch pad. (Materials will be provided.)

Scavenger Hunt:

Field Day’s family visitors are invited to traipse through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden all afternoon to hunt down fine (and not-so-fine) arty treasures tucked amidst the greenery and artwork.

1–5 pm: Greenspace Games

Outside Bazinet Garden Lobby
Whether you go in for hardcore tactics or free-for-all antics, join the artistically (and not necessarily athletically) inclined for lawn sports in the Walker’s west-side park. Recruit your own team to challenge rivals in an organized kickball tournament or show off in a pickup game of badminton. Uniforms and other creative displays of team spirit are encouraged. There will be prizes, trophies, and athletic glory for all. Register teams online at mnartists.org/greenspacegames.

1–5 pm: Remake, Revamp… Again!

Outside Bazinet Garden Lobby
Calpurnia Peach—a collaboration between Luci Kandler and Ashley Wokasch, whose line has been a hit at Minneapolis’ annual Voltage: Fashion Amplified show—extends its summer screenprinting workshop to Field Day. Join the artists to design a personalized mnartists.org T-shirt.

3 pm: Open Eye Figure Theatre

FlatPak House
The artists of Open Eye Figure Theatre will present a puppet show sure to delight children and adults alike. Come to the Sculpture Garden’s FlatPak House to see a sampling of the performances in this summer’s Driveway Tour series by this acclaimed Minneapolis theater company.

5:30 pm: Minnesota Artists “Class Photo”

Outside Bazinet Garden Lobby
All members of the Minnesota art community are invited to gather on the Greenspace for group photo. If you consider yourself part of the state’s artistic community, you should be here for this photo. The image will be posted to mnartists.org’s Facebook account to tag as many participants as possible.

8:30 pm: Skyspace/Soundspace: Solid Gold

James Turrell’s Sky Pesher, 2005 and Walker hillside
Summer winds down in style with a free experimental performance by this trio, which creates gorgeous collisions between digital and analog instrumentation by mixing heavy beats with surprising twists on Americana.

Food and Drinks

The Wolfgang Puck Garden Grill will be open from 11 am–8 pm the day of the event and the Gorilla Bar will be open from 6–10 pm.
