A Think & A Drink: This Will Have Been: Art, Love & Politics in the 1980s

Part of This Will Have Been: Art, Love & Politics in the 1980s

In August, join other Walker members for an interactive tour of the exhibition This Will Have Been: Art, Love & Politics in the 1980s in the Target and Friedman Galleries, followed by a reception with light snacks and a cash bar.

The ’80s may often be regarded with cynicism and irony—but much of the here and now leads right back to that tumultuous decade. This major exhibition shows the art of the time veering between radical and conservative, socially engaged and self-consciously commercial, irreverent and deadly serious. By decade’s end, the art world was permanently transformed.

Featuring more than 80 artists, This Will Have Been charts an era of political and aesthetic urgency, highlighting moments of contentious debate, raucous dialogue, and joyful expression.
Space is limited, so RSVP early: 612.375.7655 or membership@walkerart.org.
