A Program for Walker Art Center Members
Ever looked at something in the galleries and wondered “Why is this here”? Or maybe you’ve never used your 10% discount on performing arts tickets since you weren’t even sure where to start? Perhaps when you hear “indie film,” you think “No thanks”? Well, then it’s time for you to check out a new type of school … Art School!
Art School demystifies contemporary art by putting it into context—culturally, historically, and personally. Through short, succinct sessions, you’ll come to understand what the fuss is all about—and even feel like a connoisseur yourself.
Visual arts (photography, painting, and sculpture) and film/video sessions are followed by an optional tour of the related exhibition at 2:15 pm. After the design program, participants receive 20% off purchases in the Walker Shop. In addition, performing arts (dance and performance art/theater) participants are eligible for specially priced tickets to a Saturday-night presentation of the related piece.
Lectures will be miked and ASL interpretation is available upon request. Assistive listening devices and gallery stools are available for programs offering a tour component. This program for Walker members is copresented by the University of Minnesota Departments of Art and Art History.
Take a leap, try something new! The only risk is that you might like it.
Registration is required online at members.walkerart.org, by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling 612.375.7655.
