DESCRIPTION:Ever looked at something in the galleries and wondered “Why 
 is this here”? Or maybe you’ve never used your 10% discount on perform
 ing arts tickets since you weren’t even sure where to start? Perhaps whe
 n you hear “indie film\," you think “No thanks”? Well\, then it's ti
 me for you to check out a new type of school … Art School!\nArt School d
 emystifies contemporary art by putting it into context—culturally\, hist
 orically\, and personally. Through short\, succinct sessions\, you’ll co
 me to understand what the fuss is all about—and even feel like a connois
 seur yourself. \nVisual arts (photography\, painting\, and sculpture) and 
 film/video sessions are followed by an optional tour of the related exhibi
 tion at 2:15 pm. After the design program\, participants receive 20% off p
 urchases in the Walker Shop. In addition\, performing arts (dance and perf
 ormance art/theater) participants are eligible for specially priced ticket
 s to a Saturday-night presentation of the related piece. \nLectures will b
 e miked and ASL interpretation is available upon request. Assistive listen
 ing devices and gallery stools are available for programs offering a tour 
 component. This program for Walker members is copresented by the Universit
 y of Minnesota Departments of Art and Art History.\n\nTake a leap\, try so
