For individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, their care partners, family, and friends
Contemporary Art becomes the catalyst for community building, self-expression, and appreciating the present in this program designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, their care partners, family, and friends. The Walker offers a free tour or hands-on art-making experience (art lab) on the last Wednesday of the month.
Art labs use a variety of materials and approaches to art-making, and foster a comfortable social atmosphere.
Pre-registration is required. To register an individual with memory loss and a care partner, family member, or friend, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 612.375.7609. You must register within one week prior to the program date.
All programs begin in the Walker Art Center’s Bazinet Garden Lobby. Click here for directions to the Walker and information on parking.
Is this program for me?
The recurring Wednesday program is for individuals with mild memory loss and their care partner. Friends and family are also welcome. The tours are conversational and the art-making experiences use a variety of materials and points of entry to tap into the works and ideas on view at the Walker. The goal is for all participants to be engaged in a social space inspired by creativity.
If you are a care professional wishing to bring a group to the Walker, please contact us at 612.375.7609 to set up a private group experience.
Assisted listening devices and wheel chairs available upon request. Gallery stools are always available for tours.
