An inspiring teacher, David Zambrano has contributed generously to the field in ways that have influenced many movement artists. He has impacted the dance world from several angles, and helped to lead improvisational dance into an exciting future. While in Minneapolis, Zambrano and company dancers will offer two Flying-Low Dance Technique workshops showcasing his signature technique.

Appropriate for all levels of dancers/experienced movers with high levels of physical endurance. Space is limited; registration is required by calling 612.375.7600.

Flying-Low Dance Technique

  • Wednesday, May 9, 9:30 am–11:30 am
Zenon Dance Company, 528 Hennepin Avenue, Studio 4A, Minneapolis, MN 55403

  • Saturday, May 12, 11 am–1 pm
    McGuire Theater, Walker Art Center

Focusing mainly on the dancer’s relationship with the floor, this very physical class utilizes simple movement patterns of breathing, speed, and the release of energy to activate the relationship between the center and the joints and maintain a centered state. The class includes partnering work and movement phrases, exploring the primary laws of physics: cohesion and expansion.

Zambrano and a cast of dancers from around the globe infiltrate the Walker’s public spaces with unbridled movement and energy in Passing Through, a short spontaneous dance work, on Thursday, May 10, at 6:30 and 7:30 pm. See Zambrano in performance at the Walker on May 11 and 12.
