DESCRIPTION:A dual citizen of Mexico and the United States\, Natalia Almad
 a transcends the mythical border between these nations and their cultures 
 in her documentary films\, dwelling on their inherent dualities\, nuances\
 , and gray areas. Her work is infused with socioeconomic issues as well as
  an abiding sense of poetry and lyricism. Almada’s films have screened a
 t the Sundance Film Festival\; the Museum of Modern Art\, New York\; the G
 uggenheim Museum\; and the Whitney Biennial. \n\nAlmada first visited the 
 Walker in 2010 for the area premiere of El General\, for which she receive
 d a Sundance Documentary Directing Award. She returns to the Walker Cinema
  with her newest film\, El Velador (The Night Watchman)\, which premiered 
 at New Directors/New Films and the Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight. The d
 irector will be present at the Walker to introduce her films and take ques
 tions from the audience.
