DESCRIPTION:For the summer season\, the Walker’s monthly family day gets
  some fresh air and invigorating ideas. Enjoy outdoor adventures designed 
 by practitioners\, thinkers\, and makers from a variety of disciplines. In
  July\, kids put the tools of democracy to use for their own ends in creat
 ing government departments\, designing protest posters\, and other activit
 ies. \n\nGallery admission is free for everyone on the first Saturday of e
 ach month from 10 am to 5 pm\, with a variety of family activities schedul
 ed from 10 am to 3 pm.  \n\nActivity: Oh Wow\, Special!\nOpen Field\, 10 a
 m–3 pm   \nInspired by the Occupy Wall Street movements\, kids and adult
 s experiment with the power of words and drawings. Mark important days in 
 Minnesota’s civic past and present on this 2012–2013 monthly calendar.
  This project was designed by father-son team Sam Gould and Louis Baldwin-
 Gould\, with collaborator Sarah Peters\, to share experiences of parents t
 alking to their kids about real-world issues.\nActivity: capitol HILL\nOpe
 n Field\, 10 am–3 pm   \nLawmakers and rule breakers are invited to cele
 brate the crazy in democrazy! To serve the public better\, capitol HILL is
  made up of units that offer some of the finest examples of government in 
 action—the Department of Mustachery\, the Department of Departmenthood a
 nd Departmentality\, and the Department of Memorial Memorability! These ar
 e all to be occupied and enjoyed\, as long as you can make it through the 
 maze of red tape.\nMusic/Dance: Bomba\nMinneapolis Sculpture Garden\, 11 a
 m and 1 pm    \nSing\, dance\, watch\, and listen to bomba\, the tradition
 al folkloric music of Puerto Rico. Learn about its cultural roots as an ex
 pression of freedom during activities hosted by local musician OSO and Twi
 n Cities Bomba\, a community-based music group. Everyone is welcome to joi
 n in.
