Part of Radical Light

Two iconoclastic works by Bay Area artists tell spectacular stories. In Abscam (Framed), director Chip Lord inserts himself into FBI surveillance footage of the entrapment of Congressman Michael Meyers (1981, 11 minutes). In the spectacle Cadillac Ranch/Media Burn, avant-garde pranksters Ant Farm bury 10 Cadillacs in a row off of Intersate 40 with just the tail fins exposed, and slam a Phantom Dream Car into a stack of TV sets (1975, 37 minutes).

The Walker Art Center’s Expanding the Frame series is made possible by generous support from Elizabeth Redleaf.
