Story Reading: Cookie the Walker with Chris Monroe

Walker Cinema, 10:30 and 11:30 am, 12:30 pm
Cookie the dog doesn’t walk like other dogs—and what a sight that is! She catches the attention of a show producer, who turns her into a star. Join author and illustrator Chris Monroe as she reads her new children’s book Cookie the Walker. Best known for her weekly comic strip Violet Days, Monroe is the author of five children’s books, including the Monkey with a Tool Belt series.

Film: Lavatory – Lovestory

U.S. Bank Orientation Lounge, 10 am–3 pm
Love is always sudden—you never know when or where it might strike. A lavatory attendant finds a flower bouquet in her tip jar, but from whom? This Oscar-nominated animated short from Russia is directed by Konstantin Bronzit. 2007, 10 minutes.

Kitchen Lab

Cargill Lounge, 10 am–3 pm
Close your eyes and sniff around for your creative side. In the Kitchen Lab, participants will sample an array of organic and manufactured scents in containers, and spin off a word association, personal story, color poem, or drawing that’s activated by a particular one. Leave your responses next to each container, and we’ll keep a running tally of the most fragrant and off-putting scents in the collection.

Conversationalist’s Café

Cargill Lounge, 1:30–3 pm
Pull up a chair at the Conversationalist’s Café, located outside the exhibition Painter Painter, to share your thoughts on abstract painting with friends and strangers alike. Menus and table hosts, including a tattoo artist, plein air painter, house painter, and muralist, will be on hand to get the banter rolling.

Check Out a Tour Guide

Bazinet Garden Lobby, 11 am–2 pm
Visitors have the option of checking out their own guide for a 15-minute jaunt through a gallery of their choice. Get a few helpful tips on different things to look for when exploring an artwork. Find the colorful parasol in the lobby to begin your tour.
