Free First Saturday: From Morocco to the Moon

Travel to far-off places while touring the galleries. Join us for a day of adventure, storytelling, and cultural exploration. Come delight in awesome local artists and fun activities of all kinds.

Enjoy free gallery admission and family fun for all on the first Saturday of each month. Activities designed for kids ages 6 to 12 are offered from 10 am to 3 pm.

Performance: North African Music by Amwaaj, 11 am and 1 pm

Walker Cinema
Discover the sounds of North African music performed by Amwaaj and special guests. You’ll hear the oud, nay, violin, and percussion instruments of many types. After each performance, join the musicians onstage to play different hand drums.

Theater Workshop: Tales of Magic and Mystery, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, and 12:30 pm

Garden Terrace Room
Travel with us from Morocco to Europe on the wings of our favorite fables and folk tales. Families work together in this fun, interactive theater workshop led by the Children’s Theatre Company. Delve into the Moroccan folk tale The Girl Who Lived with Gazelles, and discover the surprising parallels between this story and the familiar fairytale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Explore the art of expressive storytelling and share your dramatic creations with others.

A red brick has been a part of a mansion for 100 years, ceaselessly watching changes in the harbor—until one day it decides to break away from the wall and go a fantastic adventure. Directed by Yuichi Ito, 2011, 18 minutes.
